Since your ring is going to be the everlasting symbol of your marriage, it’s definitely something you want to take your time choosing and something you’re still going to love all those years later. We’ve been lucky enough to speak with Jess, managing director of Anelli who has answered all those mind boggling questions from your engagement ring to your wedding band.
1. Do couples look at engagement rings together?
Yes they do, it’s an amazing experience as the couple are both so happy and they get to pick a ring together.
2. How can I select a ring to match my partner’s style?
They lovely thing about your partner presenting you with a ring is that you knew they chose it and that on it’s own is really special. If they are really stuck, we talk about what jewellery/rings their partner wears, what they tend to wear and what they do as a profession. Normally together, we find the perfect one.
3. What budget should I set to buy an engagement ring?
Whatever you can afford, don’t buy something that you will need to stretch or go in debt for.
4. Should I get insurance for my engagement ring?
Absolutely!! Then, if the worst case happens, there’s at least one thing you don’t have to worry about – the cost of another ring!
5. Can an engagement ring be resized?
It depends on what your engagement ring is like. If I had diamonds all the way around the band, it’s likely it won’t be able to get resized, but most of the diamonds can move remounted in to another mount and setting.
6. Are differences in carat sizes noticeable?
Yes they are, but it depends on the difference in the size.
7. What budget should I set to buy a wedding band?
I would highly recommend buying the same metal as your engagement ring and all metals differ in price. My gold rings range from £255, while platinum rings start at £525.
8. When should we look to get our wedding bands?
I wouldn’t buy any later than 6 months before your wedding, then you have some time to play with if the the ring needs altering at all. What do you do with your engagement ring on your wedding day? I always say to my brides to put your engagement ring on your right hand, then once the wedding band goes on, move it back across to your left.
9. Traditionally, how should I wear both engagement and band rings?
Traditionally, wedding ring goes on first then your engagement ring sits on top.
